About the role

We are looking for a Field Auditor Horticulture(Food Safety) to join our auditing team in Western Australia. In this mobile external audit role, you will work with clients across on-farm, fresh produce packing and pre-processing environments to assess their compliance against specific food safety and quality standards.

What you’ll be doing
You will be based in Western Australia in an external mobile role, travelling to client sites and working from home when not on site.
To begin with, the role will audit the following standards:
Freshcare
Harmonised Australian Retailer Produce Scheme (HARPS)
With training expansion to audit:
Global Good Agricultural Practice (GLOBALG.A.P.)
Safe Quality Food (SQF)
The role includes regular travel across Western Australia, along with some interstate travel for training, conferences and rotation management. You can generally expect to spend four out of five days, or eight out of ten days, at audit sites.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting external audits in line with program standards and Quality Management requirements.
Preparing accurate, complete and timely audit reports.
Building professional relationships with clients, industry stakeholders and community networks.
Working closely with head office technical, shared services and scheduling teams as a key contributor and representative of the business within the industry.
Escalating queries or issues to the relevant Program Manager or Technical Reviewer when required.
Supporting efficient scheduling, travel planning and audit coordination.
Communicating professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
Following Workplace Health and Safety procedures, including Fatigue Management requirements.
About you
You are practical, self-motivated and passionate about food safety, with strong knowledge of the horticulture industry and food safety compliance practices.
You will bring at least two years’ on-farm experience, such as chemical use, water use, planting and harvesting, as well as experience in horticulture production systems or food processing, including plants or packing/pre-processing of plant products.
Experience in quality assurance or food safety functions will be highly regarded.
You will hold a post-secondary qualification relevant to the horticulture industry, such as Food Science, Agricultural Sciences or a related field. A bachelor’s degree will be viewed favourably.
To be successful, you will hold, or be willing to obtain, the following certifications:
Lead Food Safety Auditor
External HACCP (principles & applications)
Chemical User
Exemplar Global registered
Additionally, having a Lead Auditor qualification in Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001) is desirable.
If you are the right fit and do not yet hold all required certifications, we will support you to obtain them.
You will be confident working autonomously, managing your time and using digital platforms, portals and electronic reporting systems. Remote technical support will be available when needed.
Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will help build professional relationships and provide development feedback. A commitment to ongoing learning will be important, helping you stay up to date with evolving standards and industry knowledge.
